Welcome on board the “TINTANIC”, THE LARGEST TITANIC MODEL IN AFRICA! She has been created by local South African artist Gino Hart over a period of three years and will only be fully complete in the year 2025. The artwork has been seen by millions of spectators and loved by millions more worldwide.
It began with a passion for the TITANIC disaster, a tin can and a few rivets – thus the slight name change – it is fully intentional. An idea was born that the TITANIC could be recreated in miniature as one of the largest and most unique art structures in the country. STALCOR, the leading suppliers in steel and aluminum products in Africa provided twenty large sheets of high grade aluminum for the giant 8.7 meter *(27ft) hull. CONNECT.CO provided more than 55 000 high grade aluminum rivets which were all inserted by hand rivet gun and keeps it all together. H&S TIMBERS supplied 160 square meters of plywood for her more than 4000 interior rooms and STRONGBOND ADHESIVES created a special glue which has been guaranteed to last at least 100 years. LASER CREATIONS designed and cut more than 1000 individual faithfully reproduced window frames.
The concept has been adapted to highlight our South African heritage and connections to the TITANIC disaster and to inspire others to follow their dreams before time runs out.
